no bake chocolate peanut butter energy balls. If you’re like me have a sweet tooth and you love easy grab and go snacks then this post is for you! I love chocolate, granola, nut butters you name it! In college I use to eat all of those things including processed snacks that contained those items as well. WELL after taking a deeper look at the ingredients in those easy grab and go snacks, there’s nothing nutritious about them. I found it hard initially to part ways with them because they came in handy during long lectures, after practice, during work, and when I needed a mid-day pick me up. No Bake Chocolate PB Energy Balls.
Chocolate PB energy balls ingredients
Old-Fashion oats: The base of this snack is made up of old-fashion oats.I also use the Bob red mill brand and that works perfectly too.
*Don’t use quick or steel cut oats for this recipe, I repeat just don’t give it a go haha. No Bake Chocolate PB Energy Balls.
Creamy natural peanut butter: Peanut is my favorite nut butter. If you or your family/friend has a PB allergy you can substitute for almond butter. My go-to brand is Skippy Creamy Natural Peanut Butter
Natural honey: This is for all you sweet-tooth’s out there; the honey gives the recipe just the right amount of sweetness without overdoing it.
Chia seeds:
These have become increasingly more popular in the health and fitness community. For those who may have never heard of Chia Seeds; they are tiny little edible seeds from Salvia hispanics, a flowering plant in the mint family native to Central America. They are known for the high amount of omega-3 fatty acids that they carry in them. Omega-3 fatty acids are the HEALTHY type of fats that our bodies can’t make so we need to consume them. Omega-3 fats have been shown to help prevent heart disease and stroke. They are tasteless and you will not notice them in the energy balls.
Ground Flax seed: Another superfood that is very popular. Ground Flaxseed is also known for omega 3 fats and is high in fiber. This ingredient is also tasteless. I just love sneaking in extra nutrients where I can.
Dark chocolate chips: Last but surely not least. These give the balls the extra flavor and help make them aesthetically pleasing to all of our inner 5-year-old selfs.
Overall, I decided to experiment with some of my favorite ingredients and came up with the perfect CLEAN chocolate peanut butter energy ball recipe! Something you can feel good about eating!
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups of Old-fashion Oats
- ¾ cup of natural peanut butter
- 1/3 cup of creamy natural honey

- 1 TBSP of ground flax seed (optional)
- 1 TSP vanilla extract
- ½ cup of dark chocolate chips
Instructions
- Combine honey, vanilla extract, and peanut butter in a stove-top or in microwave. Heat on low-med heat (approximately 5 min total) until mixture is melted and well combined. (Make sure to check after 2min to reevaluate your temperature setting) You don’t want to burn the mixture.
- In a medium-large bowl combine oats, chia seeds, flax seed and chocolate chips.
- Once cool, transfer stove top mixture to medium-large bowl with the rest of the ingredients. Stir to combine all ingredients.
- Cover your mixture and let sit in the refrigerator for 20-30min.
- Roll into small bites (approx. 1 inch). Place into an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 1 week.
